Single Elimination Playoffs
GAMEPLAY
Two 20-minute halves
Running clock until final minute of first half and final two minutes of second half (Exception: if either team leads by 15 or more in the second half, no stoppage applies).
7-Team Fouls = 1and1 10-Team Fouls = Double Bonus
6 personal fouls = disqualification
2 technical fouls = disqualification 3 technical fouls on the season = 1 game suspension
Flagrant fouls may result in disqualification subject to the interpretation of the referees.
Each team receives three one-minute timeouts per game.
Each team receives one timeout in OT. Timeouts do not carryover.
Mercy Rule: if a team leads by 20 or more points with under 5 minutes left in the game, the remainder of the game can be called.
If a team has only four players to start a game, they may proceed with play. Any team starting with less than four players must forfeit.
If a team’s fifth player is disqualified due to a non-technical foul, the disqualified player will remain in the game, but each subsequent foul incurred on said player will result in a team technical foul (two free throws and possession) following any free throws owed the personal foul.
Playoffs Overview
Traditional basketball playoff bracket (high-low seeding, rooted bracket: winner of 1v8 plays winner of 4v5).
Tie-breaker for two teams with same regular season record: 1) head-to-head (wins/losses + point differential if applicable), 2) fewest points allowed or 3) most points scored.
Tie-breaker for 2+ teams with same regular season record: 1) head-to-head win percentage amongst tied teams, 2) head-to-head point differential amongst tied teams, 3) overall point differential or 4) most points scored.
General Rules
Games will start no later than 5 minutes after the scheduled start time
All players are required to wear a “BYL” jersey. Failure to do so will result in technical fouls or disqualification.
If a team does not have the required number of players (4) to start a game by the above time, they will forfeit the matchup.
Any and all participating players must sign a waiver prior to entering a game.
Physical altercations of any kind are NOT PERMITTED and WILL result in league suspension/ban.
Roster Rules
All teams are required to roster 8 paid players.
Captains may execute trades of players as approved by the league commissioners.
Teams are only permitted to roster players that were originally drafted or acquired by a league commissioner-approved waiver-wire transaction.
In the event of a season-ending injury or ban (for conduct or non-payment) teams who have lost a player will be eligible to pick up a replacement via the waiver wire up until tip-off of Week 5.
Waiver wire priority will be dictated by 1) roster vacancies, 2) team record and 3) positional needs.
Hardship Waiver: if a team falls below 7 rostered players, they may pick up a waiver replacement even after Week 5 (subject to commissioner approval).
Playoff Eligibility: participating players must have played in at least one regular season game to qualify for playoffs (unless added to team due to a hardship waiver).
Refunds
In order to receive a full refund, a player must reach out to the league commissioner via email with a formal request not to participate in a session 24 hours prior to that session’s draft date. Any requests made after that point will be subject to commissioner approval.
Partial refunds may be issued only if a player suffers a season-ending injury prior to the halfway point of the regular season. The league commissioner reserves the right to request documented proof of the injury.
Any other circumstances (ie. player doesn’t like his team, player feels he should get more minutes, etc.) are NOT refund-eligible. We do encourage players with these circumstances, however, to speak to their captain.
